It's a bit of work, but for me, it was super effective. You'll find new words for things like fire, find out the names of unusual animals, etc. The good thing about this is that while learning the pokemon names, you'll find your understanding of the language increasing - especially if you look up the etymology of a pokemon's name after googling it. If worst comes to worst, you can always google the name and find out that way. Maybe pick your PC and Partner to make the game harder, so you'll have to spend extra time in the dungeons. Take your time in dungeons and with the story to expose yourself to the names longer (which will make them stick in your head better). You keep seeing " did x" when a wurmple is vomiting on you, you soon remember that is wurmple.
The dungeon pokemon, in my experience it shouldn't take too long to put names to faces.
